Colombian Amazon Medical Mission Trip Planned for March 2025!
Dr. Kim and the Global Vision Outreach team will embark on a mission trip to Leticia, Colombia, in March 2025. Situated along the Amazon River near the borders of Brazil and Peru, Leticia and its surrounding indigenous communities currently lack access to eye surgeries. Due to chronic sunlight exposure reflecting off the river, many locals suffer from vision loss caused by pterygium—a fibrovascular growth from the conjunctiva to the cornea—and cataract, even at a young age. This mission aims to provide pterygium and cataract surgeries to these underserved populations, helping to restore their sight.
